![]() ![]() So Percy decides to go to the underworld to find the truth and save his mother. ![]() But before Percy can even break in his new bunk, Hades accuses him of stealing Zeus' master lightning bolt. Grover, now sporting the goat hooves of a satyr, leads Percy through camp explaining that he's actually half-god - and his parent isn't just any god, but sea king Poseidon. but only after it took his mother to the underworld. He wakes up in an infirmary like no other, teeming with teens in Greek battle gear, as he remembers with a jolt that he fought and killed a minotaur. Seemingly normal (albeit dyslexic) D student Percy Jackson ( Logan Lerman) realizes that something is very wrong when he's attacked by a demonic beast during a class trip and whisked away by his mother ( Catherine Keener) and friend Grover (Brandon T. Also, in the movie they just snuck out of the camp, while in the book Percy, Annabeth, and Grover were given a quest. In the movie they were looking for the pearls as there quest. In the book they were trying to find the door to the Underworld and they collected the pearls along the way. I loved the books so much and I despise these movies with a deep passion. In the movies, he's a ladies man which is just. In the books he was a shy, nervous saytr. In the movies, she introduces herself to Percy saying she's never lost a battle before, and that she's been going to this camp since she was a child and then Percy (who has no training at all) beats her in a battle right after she says this? How? They also took away her baseball cap, and made her a useless character when she wasn't at all useless in the books. He was always cracking jokes and wasn't nearly as mature as the Percy in the movie. Percy was a sarcastic but still nice kid. The movie completely ruined Percy, Annabeth, and Grover's characters. Annabeth is BLONDE! Also, Percy and Annabeth were on the same team for capture the flag. Also, it took Percy a couple of chapters to find out that he was the son of Posiden and it was a really big deal. I wanted to like it, but I just can't.THERE WAS NOTHING EVEN REMOTELY SIMILAR TO THE BOOK IN THERE!! The characters were supposed to be 12, not 17. Really Disney? Don't get me wrong, 3 outta the 8 episodes are great (3, 4, and 5) just the series didn't really feel like a Percy Jackson series, more of a Disney series. With only Grover being the one to get addicted and Percy to go through the wrath for a few seconds. The series though, they get to Hermes, and the leave the casino. In both the book and movie, Percy, Grover, and annabeth go though the addiction stuff, and it's pulled off so well. In episode 6, the lotus casino isn't really fleshed out that well. In the first episode, Percy only fights ms.dodds for like a few seconds before it ends. This leans into the mysterious Benedict society vibes: good show, not good enough for a repeat. The only example I can think of that has skipped this would be goosebumps, which had its own unique thing going on. It feels like this series is like every Disney+ book adaptation that isn't animated, very good plot but not enough interest to continue on. And Annabeth, she's more snarky than her book counterpart, before the quest, it felt like she was a bully to Percy, and now they're good just a few episodes in?! Second: too much Disney+ book adaptation, not enough Percy Jackson vibes. Disney Percy however, feels more like a stereotypical Disney action book adaptation protagonist, very boring. ![]() One thing I like about Percy is that he's funny, and the movies pulled that off well. First of all: Percy and annabeth, they didn't feel like each other. But when I saw it, I found it really disappointing. So when a Percy Jackson series was announced, I lost my marbles. Im a Percy Jackson fan, i've read all the books and liked both movie adaptations. ![]()
